Jesus carried his cross up to Golgotha’s hill
Despite the pain and agony he went higher still
On to higher ground he went carrying that cross
On to higher ground he went so you and I wouldn’t be lost.
Life and the devil will throw us many a blow
Sometimes it will seem like it’s no further we can go
People of God, let’s not forget how long the devil had us bound
We then must shake ourselves and, like Jesus, go on to higher ground.
The devil would love for us to stay in the valley low
He doesn’t want us to pray as we should or for our fasting life to grow
It is when he presses us sore that higher ground we should achieve
When he presses us sore, more on God’s word we must believe.
GO ON TO HIGHER GROUND!
