A professor was giving a lecture on stress management. He raised a bottle of water and asked the audience, “How heavy do you think this bottle of water is?” The answers ranged from a half-pound to three pounds.
“It does not matter on the absolute weight. It depends on how long you hold it.
If I hold it for a minute, it is OK.
If I hold it for an hour, I will have an ache in my right arm. If I hold
it for a day, the pain will be intolerable. It is the exact same
weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes.”
The Professor continued, “If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, we will not be able to carry on, the burden becoming increasingly heavier to the point of being unbearable.”
“What we have to do, is to put the bottle down, or give it to someone else to carry.
We have to put down the burden of life and give it to someone else to carry. Who better to carry it than Jesus Christ!
Psalm 38:4…For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.
The longer we stay and carry our bag of sin and iniquities, the more burdensome it becomes. Some find it unbearable and give to Jesus. Some find a way to live with it and keep it, which delights the devil.
Psalm 55:22…Cast thy burden upon the Lord and he shall sustain thee….
