17 Nov Will You Be Ready?
Scripture Text:
2 Peter 3:10, But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11) Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness.
A poem printed by Ulysses Phillips for your consideration:
In the resurrection morning
When the trump of God shall sound,
And before him all the nations
Shall at once be gathered round.
There before the King eternal,
Judge of all the quick and dead,
Small and great shall stand to listen
What to them shall then be said.
Not a single human creature
Shall escape that solemn day,
Sleeping dust shall wake to answer
When God calls the crumbling clay.
Since the Son of God has triumphed
Over death, hell, and the grave;
The first fruits of the sleeping ones
Evermore hath power to save.
Today is the day of free salvation,
Now is the time to make your choice;
If you wait until the judgment,
God will never heed your voice.
For when Christ shall come in judgment
It will be too late to pray;
If your sins are not forgiven.
You will turn from him away.
Some will stand with great rejoicing
As they’re singing, “Saved by grace,”
Some will cry for rocks and mountains
There to hide them from his face.
In the resurrection morning
On which side will you be found,
When before the great Jehovah
All the nations gather round?
Will you then be ready as your name is called aloud
Will you appear with sins unforgiven as you stand before the King,
Did you reject him because you were too busy and way too proud,
Because if you did, “Heaven is My Home” you will never be able to sing.
